Bioethanol is a booming growth market
Bioethanol has long since established itself as a viable biofuel throughout the world, and the bioethanol market has enjoyed rapid growth in the last few years. We must therefore assume that not only the production of, but also demand for bioethanol will likely continue to rise significantly on a global scale, since enormous sales markets with corresponding demand are already in place. With the "Renewable Energy Directive", the demand for bioethanol in Europe alone will continue to rise over the course of the next few years – and reach around 15 million m³ by 2020 based on expert opinions. However, this trend is not restricted just to Europe, but rather a global development, as highlighted by the following chart.
